Objectives

The master's degree in Environment, Water and Sanitation - MAASA has anointer institutional connection at Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and is headquartered in the Department of Environmental Engineering of the Polytechnic School. The MAASA has an area of concentration:  Environment, Water and Sanitation.

The objectives of the course are:

  • To promote the formation of professors and th einitial formation of researchers in the area of environmental engineering, with emphasis on environment, water and sanitation.
  • To form and qualify human resources for the treatment of environmental problems, from an integratedandinterinstitutional perspective, to meet the demands of the state of Bahia and Northeast region, from public administration, private initiative and Third sector.
  • To promote the development of scientific and technological research in area of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering.

The professional to be graduated by Masters Course in Environment, Water and Sanitation must have an integrated and interdisciplinary view of environmental issues developing capacity for reflection, analysis and evaluation in order to assimilate knowledge through research and teaching that contributes to construction or deepening of science.

Masters course in Environment, Water and Sanitation through its curriculum should provide a solid technical-scientific training, stimulating the critical and creative performance in the identification and resolution o fproblems of the areas of environment, water and Sanitation, considering the political, economic, social and cultural aspects, with humanisticethical vision, in meeting the demands of society.

From this conception, the course intends to train professionals with an interdisciplinary and comprehensive view of the environmental problem and with specific competencies for teaching, research and intervention in problems related to Sanitary Engineering and Environmental. The graduates of the Masters course in Environment, Water and Sanitation should be trained to:

  • Identify and critically add ressenvironmental problems, specifically those related to the management of the environment, water and sanitation.
  • To propose and implement solutions to environmental problems, in an integrated and interdisciplinary perspective, considering the technical, social, economic and human aspects involved.
  • Integrateresearchteams in theareasoftechnologyandenvironmental management, waterandsanitation.
  • Acting as a lecturer in the different segments of the environmental area.
